Insert Clip Art Tutorial
Microsoft PowerPoint
Objective: To insert clip art from the PowerPoint Clip Art Gallery on to a slide.
Introduction: Inserting images on to PowerPoint slides can enhance the visual appeal of a presentation. Images from various sources can be used on slides, including: 1) clip art from the PowerPoint "Clip Gallery", 2) images copied from the world-wide-web, 3) scanned pictures, or 4) pictures from a digital camera. Adding clip art from the PowerPoint Clip Art Gallery may be one of the easier methods because a clip art "gallery" comes with the PowerPoint software.
Skill Practice: Insert clip art on to a PowerPoint Slide
Step 1: Open
. On your computer screen, display the slide that you want to add a picture to.
Step 2: Go to Insert > Picture > Clip Art, or click on the Clip Art icon
. The PowerPoint Clip Art Gallery window will appear on your screen.
Step 3: Browse the Clip Art Gallery to see what types of pictures are available to use on your slides. Click on the clip art category that you want to work with.
Step 4: Browse the chosen category for a picture you want to use. Click on the picture you want to use - a "shortcut menu" will appear. On the shortcut menu, click on "Insert Clip". A copy of the picture you have chosen will now appear on your slide.
Step 5: Repeat this process to add additional clip art to your slide. When finished, click on the "X" in the top right corner of the clip art window.
Step 6: Click on your PowerPoint slide. Left click on the inserted image - the picture toolbar will appear, along with "sizing handles" around the image
. Use the picture toolbar to make desired adjustments to image appearance, such as cropping and brightness. Use the image sizing handles to adjust image size and slide position.
* Note * - You can also "click and drag" clip art directly to your slide from the Clip Art Gallery. Left click on the image you want to use, and "drag" your cursor over to your slide.
