Requirements: To create a class gradebook using Microsoft Excel



Basic Assignment Option:

Step 1: Create a group of 25 hypothetical students for a class that you teach, or would like to teach.
Step 2: Using Microsoft Excel, create a gradebook for the class.
Step 3: Include the following fields and point totals in the gradebook: Student Name, Quiz #1 = 25 points, Quiz #2 = 25 points, Project = 50 points, Problems = 25 points, Presentation = 50 points, Exam = 100 points, Total Points = 275 points, Grade.
Step 4: Insert hypothetical numbers in the field cells for each student
Step 5: Insert a Sum formula in the Total Points column cells for each student.
Step 6: Use the following grade scale to assign final class grades for each student: A = 275-240 points, B = 239-200 points, C = 199-170 points, D = 169-140 points, F = below 140 points.
Step 7: Submit the "finished product" to the instructor via email attachment by the due date.

  • Advanced Assignment Option:

    Step 6: Insert a Percent formula in the Percent column cells for each student.
    Step 7: Use the following percentage grade scale to assign final class grades for each student: A = 90% and above, B = 80% and above, C = 70% and above, D = 60% and above, F = below 60%.
    Step 8: Insert an image in the gradebook (clip art, web image, photo) related to the class subject.
    Step 9: Submit the "finished product" to the instructor via email attachment by the due date.
