Objective: To create a PowerPoint presentation



Introduction: Using PowerPoint can better organize lecture notes and make lectures more appealing for students. This tutorial will provide steps for creating a PowerPoint presentation. For example, chemistry teachers can produce a presentation that provides students with a preview of a scientific topic, such as an introduction to the Periodic Table.



Skill Practice: Create a PowerPoint Presentation

Step 1: Open .

Step 2: Choose and click OK. The auto layout window will appear on your screen.

Step 3: Choose an auto layout based on the information being put on a particular slide. For the title slide, usual choices are and . If a chart and text are used, then would be a good option.

Step 4: Add a title by clicking on any area of "Click to Add Title". Type in the desired title for the slide. You can adjust the font type and size by using the formatting toolbar, similar to Microsoft Word.

Step 5: Add text by clicking on any area of the "Click to Add Text". Be sure to save this presentation by going to the pull-down menu, choosing Save As, and assigning an appropriate file name.

Step 6: A design can be added to the slide by going to the pull-down menu and selecting from "slide layout, slide color scheme, background, or apply design template". Again, always be sure to save the file after making changes.

Step 7: A new slide can be created by going to the pull-down menu and selecting "new slide", or by using the button on the toolbar. Creating any additional slides are simply a repeat of steps 3 - 7.
