Create Science "Cycle" Tutorial
Inspiration
Objective: To use the Inspiration software to create an Earth Cycle handout.
Introduction: Inspiration is an application that can help teachers create easy-to-follow handouts for educational topics that can be difficult to visualize and understand, such as "Earth Cycles".
Skill Practice: Creating an Earth Cycle Handout Using Inspiration
Step 1: Open
. To create a title, select the
on the symbol palette
.
Step 2: You can adjust the look of your title by selecting Font from the toolbar at the top. Then, move your cursor to another area of the page to click off the image. A
should appear. Once this symbol is present, you can select an image you wish to use in your handout. At this point it would be a good idea to save the Inspiration file.
Step 3: To browse for images, you will want to use the arrows
at the top of the image library. Once you find an image of the Earth Cycle you are wanting to create a handout for, click once on it. Again, you will need to move your cursor to another area of the page to click off the image, and once the
appears, you can select another image.
Step 4: Once you have selected all the images you wish to use, you need to place them in a coherent order. For "The Hydrologic Cycle" the placement was in a circular fashion to show it is a repetative cycle. Again, save your file!
Step 5: The next step is to click on each image and insert text in the textbox under each image
. This text can be a simple title or a couple sentences explaining the individual step. Save your file!
Step 6: The final step to create an Earth Cycle handout similar to the sample is to create links, if it helps with the understanding of the cycle. To link the images together, first click on the Link button
. Then choose the first image by clicking on it. Then select the image it will be linked to, also by clicking on it. The link (arrow) should appear.
The appearance of the links can be edited by first clicking on the link and then selecting Link from
.
