Objective: Add Music to a Slideshow
Introduction: RealSlideshow Basic is a timeline-based, easy-to-use, multimedia software program for producing "web-ready" slideshows. It utilizes timing "tracks" for the incorporation of images, voice, and music.
Slideshow production includes selecting project properties, such as target resolution and data rates. followed by the addition of images. Images can be cropped and adjusted, as desired, to fit into a slideshow. Timeline duration and transition time between each image can also be controlled by the producer.
Skill Practice: Add music to an existing slideshow
Step 1: Open
and go to File > Open Project. The "Open RealSlideShow" window will appear on screen. Browse your computer files until you find the slideshow you want to add music to. Click on the file - it will become highlighted. Choose

Step 2: The opened file will now appear in the RealSlideShow window.
Step 3: Go to Edit > Project Properties. The Project Properties window will appear on screen. Click on Background Music.
A music menu will appear.
Step 4: You have an option of creating an audio file from a CD, or using music from an existing audio file. If you want to create an audio file from music on a CD, insert the music CD into the computer's CD-ROM drive, select song number, and press "start recording". RealSlideShow will create an audio file of the music selected (a .wav file). You will be able to save the new .wav file to a location on your computer, and you then can use it in the slideshow.

Step 5: If you want to use music from an existing audio file, click on
. The "Select Audio File" window will appear. Browse your audio files for the music you want to use. When you find the audio file you want to use, click on it to highlight the file, and then select
. The file name should appear in the "audio file" box. At this point you are ready to integrate the music into your slideshow, so select
.
Step 6: The audio file that you have selected will play. You will be able to hear it play if your speakers are turned on. Once the music is finished, select
. You have successfully inserted music into your slideshow. Once you have "Generated" your slideshow, you can use RealPlayer to view your slideshow as a finished product.
