Objective: How to Add Text to a Card

Introduction: HyperStudio makes it easy for educators and students to add text to HyperStudio cards and stacks. By using the "T" button on the "Tools Palette", text can be easily inserted on to a card. HyperStudio also allows users to customize font size, type, color, alignment, and style.

Skill Practice: Add Text to Card

Step 1: Open . Choose the option "Create a New Stack". The first blank card of the new stack will appear on screen.

Step 2: On the menu bar near the top of the HyperStudio window, go to . The "Tool Palette" will appear on screen. Choose the "T" on the "Tool Palette". "T" is the "Text" option.

.

Step 3: On the menu bar near the top of the HyperStudio window, go to . A "drop-down" menu will appear with options to customize the font you will use on your card, including "font type", "text size", "text color", and "text alignment".

Step 4: The cursor will now appear in this shape -. Move the cursor to the point on the card where you want to add text, and then "click" the mouse button. A smaller "blinking" cursor will now appear at the chosen spot. Go ahead and type in the text you want on the card at this location.

Step 5: Editing the Text - the easiest way to get rid of text after you have added it to your card is to use the "Backspace" button on your keyboard. This option can be used immediately after you added the text to the card. You can't use this option if you have already "mouse-clicked" on another spot on your card after adding the text. If you have "mouse-clicked" on another spot on the card, you can use the "Eraser" option on the "Tool Palette" to erase unwanted text from your card. Follow these same steps to add text to the rest of the HyperStudio cards that you create.
