Objective: To insert a "jump menu" on a web page



Introduction:A "jump menu" is a functional "pull-down" menu full of hyperlinks, commonly used on comprehensive web pages. Adding a "jump menu" to a web page proves to be a helpful way to manage and organize a large number of hyperlinks in a limited amount of space. With a few "mouse-clicks", Dreamweaver makes it very easy to create and place "jump menus" exactly where you want them to be on a web page.



Skill Practice: To insert a "jump menu" on a web page

Step 1: Open . The Dreamweaver "Untitled" window will appear on screen, with a new, "untitled" document opened within it. To open an existing Dreamweaver document, go to File > Open.

Step 2: Move the cursor to the point in the document where you want the "jump menu" to be inserted.

Step 3: Go to Insert > Form Object > Jump Menu. The "Insert Jump Menu" will appear on screen:



Step 4: In the menu, click in the "Text" box. Delete any default text within the box. Type in the name of the first web site you want to include in your "jump menu", such as . Move the cursor to the "When Selected, Go to URL" text box and "click" your mouse button. Now, type in the correct web address (URL) for the web site listed in "Text" box, such as . When finished, click on the to add another web site to your "jump menu".

Step 5: When finished adding web sites to your "jump menu", click on . The "jump menu" will now appear in your document at the location you selected.
