Inspiration

Objective: To create an image using Inspiration



Introduction: Inspiration allows users to create files that can be exported as images for use on web pages and other documents. This function can allow educators to become authors/creators of content they use on electronic and printed materials.



Skill Practice: Create an Image using Inspiration

Step 1: Open . A new, blank document will appear on screen. Go to View > Symbol Palette to have the Inspiration Symbols palette appear on screen.

Step 2: Browse the Symbols Palette for graphics and pictures you would like to use with your image. When you have found one you like, click on it. The image will now become your "main idea" in your Inspiration file, such as .

Step 3: Left-click on the image so that "sizing handles" appear around the image. Now, go to Symbol > Captioned Symbol to allow a caption (text) to be added to the text box attached to the symbol, such as .

Step 4: To Save as Image - Go to File > Export.... The "Export" window will appear on screen. Select the desired "diagram format" from those listed on the menu, such as .gif or .jpeg.

Step 5: "Name" the file, and select a location on your computer where you would like to "save" the file. Select when finished. The image has now been created, and it is ready to use on electronic and printed documents.
