Objective: To convert a PowerPoint Presentation to Adobe PDF format


Introduction: If Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 are installed on the same computer, an educator will be able to utilize PDF Maker functionality with Microsoft PowerPoint. This will allow a user to convert common PowerPoint presentations into Adobe PDF format, a "universal" file format used for document distribution worldwide. Adobe PDF preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone with free Adobe Acrobat Reader software (http://www.adobe.com).



Skill Practice: To convert a PowerPoint presentation into a PDF file

Step 1: Open , and select a presentation that you want to convert to Adobe PDF format.

Step 2: Open the presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint. The presentation should now appear on screen.

Step 3: With Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on the computer, an "Acrobat" option will appear on the top menu - . Also, a user can select View > Toolbars > PDF Maker 5.0 to have the PDF Maker toolbar appear on the top left of the screen - .

Step 4: Select the "Convert to Adobe PDF" icon - . The "Save PDF File As" window will appear on screen.



Use the window options to "Name" the PDF file, select a location to save the file at, and "Save" the file.


Step 5: The new PDF file will be created - , and saved to the location you specified.

Step 6: If you want to convert a PowerPoint Presentation to PDF format and also email it to a colleague, use the "Convert to Adobe PDF and Email" icon - .
