Introduction: If Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat 5.0 are installed on the same computer, an educator will be able to utilize PDF Maker functionality with Excel files. A user can convert common Excel spreadsheets into Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), a "universal" file format used for document distribution worldwide. Adobe PDF preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone with free Adobe Acrobat Reader software (http://www.adobe.com).

Skill Practice: To convert an Excel spreadsheet into a PDF file

Step 1: Open , and open an Excel file that you want to convert to Adobe PDF. The file will appear on screen.

Step 2: With Adobe Acrobat installed on the computer, an "Acrobat" option will appear on the top menu - . An Excel user can also go to View > Toolbars > PDF Maker 5.0 to have the PDF Maker icons appear as a toolbar - .
